Well, well! It’s been a while, hasn’t it? Between supplying you, our dear reader, with plentiful amounts of celebrity interviews of the people *in* the movies, I’ve barely had time to talk to you *about* the movies. But no more! Let’s get right back into the swing of things and find out which film reigned supreme at the nation’s theaters this weekend.
Coming in first place is the latest superhero movie, Captain America: The First Avenger. It earned $65.8 million in its first weekend in theaters . Not too shabby – and it was enough to oust Harry Potter from the top spot!
Thankfully for Harry, Hermione, and the rest of the gang, though, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 didn’t fall too far – just to second place, having earned $48 million in its second week out. Pretty impressive. Its cumulative revenue for the past two weekends has hit a total of $274 million – nothing to turn one’s nose up at.
Friends With Benefits took third place, having earned $18.5 million. Not bad, but it definitely pales in comparison to the top two.
Transformers: Dark of the Moon came in fourth place, having earned exactly $12 million over the weekend. Horrible Bosses took fifth, earning $11.7 million. In sixth place, Zookeeper earned $8.7 million.
Seventh place went to Cars 2, which earned $5.7 million, and eighth place went to Winnie the Pooh, which earned $5.1 million. Rounding out the top ten were Bad Teacher, which pulled in $2.6 million, and Midnight in Paris, which earned $1.8 million.
Did you guys see anything this weekend?
