Tony Dovolani from Dancing with the Stars came out to host the John Wayne Cancer Institute Event and chatted with StarCam’s Jennifer Tapiero about what an honor it is to be there, a unique family tradition and some of his favorite celebrities that he’s met on the hit TV show.
“I’m very excited to be hosting the John Wayne charity event,” he said. “I mean, this is something that everybody wants to be a part of and the fact that they asked me to host it is even a bigger honor.”
Tony is a fun-loving father of three with a passion for life. He doesn’t like to dwell on negativity and dancing is one thing that helps him do that. When he was living in Kosovo, there was a lot of war. Rather than feed into the chaos or fear what would happen next, Tony danced. Now, that escape he used in a time of disarray is something that his family does each night at 7 p.m. They call it a dance party. Instead of turning on the news, they dance and enjoy themselves.
Being a professional dancer has done a lot more than just provide an escape and some tranquility in Tony’s life. He’s had the chance to meet celebrities and music artists that he’s admired for quite some time. He told Jen that many of the people he’s met on Dancing with the Stars were individuals or bands that he would have loved to see in concert, let alone see them face-to-face! Some of those artists include, Celine Dion, ACDC, KISS, Rascal Flatts and Carlos Santana!
