Who knows if another hit single is in the works, but according to a source close to the pop singer, Taylor Swift has split up with boyfriend Conor Kennedy. The pair had been dating for only a few short months, but with Taylor Swift allegedly purchasing a house close to the Kennedys so she could see Conor more often, this is a bit of a shock.
The alleged "friend" of Swift's says that the couple "quietly parted ways a while ago." As for the reason behind the split, the friend says it has to do with distance. "No hard feelings. They're fine."
The couple was first spotted together in July at the Kennedy family compound in Hyannisport, Massachussetts. Conor, 18, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and the late Mary Kennedy's son, and though Swift's romances are never more than short-lived affairs (see also: Jake Gyllenhaal, Joe Jonas, and who could forget, John Mayer), with her purchasing a home near the house it seemed like things were going well.
Still, the pop star does release a new album, Red, this week, which means it's time to a) get her name back in the gossip columns, and b) start writing material for her next record—Swift is notoriously transparent with her song titles and lyrics.
The friend explained, "It's been over a month since they've seen each other. With her promotion for Red, she has no time off until the end of the year."
Hopefully for the couple, Swift's song about their relationship will be a tad nicer than "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together."
