This past weekend Star Trek 2 stars Zachary Quinto, Chris Pine, Simon Pegg and Benedict Cumberbatch spent some quality time together, going to Hooters with their stunt crew to watch boxing, making a late-night drive to San Francisco, and going to see The Avengers with Star Trek director J.J. Abrams. Thankfully for us, Pegg and Quinto are big fans of social media, so fans got to tag along on their hijinks-heavy adventure.
The boys started off at a Hooters, where they went with some of the stunt team from Star Trek 2 to watch the Mayweather vs. Cotto match.
At this point, fans were trying to figure out who all was in attendance, and Quinto confirmed that Pine and Cumberbatch were along for the ride, but not John Cho.
By now, people in the area were realizing who (and where) they were, and the fan pictures started pouring in. The one of Quinto photobombing Pegg is one of my personal favorites.
After the match, Pegg, Pine, Quinto and Cumberbatch jumped into a car and headed for San Francisco, with 'Grandma Pegg" behind the wheel.
Then things started to get interesting.
Our sources drop off after that - there are no new updates until the next morning, when Pegg shared this picture, taken by Quinto, and raved about the cafe they were in.
Pegg then reminded everyone to watch his new BFF Cumberbatch's second series of Sherlock, which was premiering that night on PBS. The 'Americanized' picture of Cumberbatch is hysterical, no?
Later Pegg, Quinto and Pine met up with J.J. Abrams to go see The Avengers, because of course they did! Everyone did! Did you see those box office stats? An employee of the theater they went to posted this picture:
Finally, Pegg gave us a little bit of insight into what happened the previous evening in San Francisco. Sadly, I think this is the most we'll ever know about what really went down, which is a shame, because it looked like a blast! Maybe someday...
Star Trek 2 wrapped filming today with a tentative release date of May 2013, so it looks like it will be awhile yet before we see these guys together again, but I sure am looking forward to it.
