Stephanie Leigh Schlund has been cast as Cashmere in the upcoming sequel to The Hunger Games, Catching Fire. Her character and her character's brother Gloss are both competing in the Games.
She and her brother Gloss won the Hunger Games in consecutive years when Katniss was younger. While we can't give you any movie-related spoilers, if you've read the books, you know what Cashmere is in for in the 75th Annual Hunger Games.
Schlund is from the Atlanta Metro area, and in 2008 she went on a trip to Los Angeles, where she appeared as a model on The Price Is Right. Since then, she's appeared on the Lifetime series Drop Dead Diva and had a role in Nicholas Sparks'/Disney's The Last Song. She also has a role on Fox's series The Following, which will air this fall.
The upcoming film, Catching Fire, picks up with Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) returning home from winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games with fellow tribute, Peeta Mellark. While winning might seem like it has its perks, it also means that they must leave their families and friends again to embark on a "Victory's Tour" of the districts. Along the way, however, she senses rebellion on the rise.
Catching Fire will be directed by Francis Lawrence and products by Nina Jacobson's Color Force, along with producer Jon Kilik. It is slated for a November 22, 2013 release, so although there's been news pretty consistently regarding casting, we've got a long way to wait for our next fix.
Other stars that have been cast in Catching Fire include Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Lenny Kravitz, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Woody Harrelson, Jena Malone, and more. An all-star cast, with a handful more to come, we're sure.
