Richard Portnow is a true fan of Chicago. He’s seen the show before. He’s filmed movies and pilots in the city, loves the score and dancing for the Broadway show and is a diehard fan of everything to do with the city. StarCam’s Jennifer Tapiero caught him at opening night on the red carpet at Pantages Theater and chatted with him about his newest project and its star-studded cast!
“Right now I’m starring opposite Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren…This is really cool. The movie is called Hitchcock,” he said. “It’s about Alfred Hitchcock and the making of the movie Psycho. We have Anthony Hopkins as Hitchcock, Helen Mirren as his wife, Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Biel, Toni Collette, Michael Stuhlbarg and me. I play the head of Paramount. I’m adversarial with Hitchcock. Paramount did not want to make the movie and did not make the movie and I wouldn’t even let him shoot on my lot. I told him to go rent space at Universal and that’s why the Psycho house is on the Universal lot…I didn’t believe in the film. I thought it was perverse.”
Richard just filmed a really memorable and controversial scene with Anthony Hopkins and promises the film will be out in time for award season. He’s also been asked to direct a film called The Boy Next Door. Check out the full interview to get the scoop on that movie and who they’re hoping to get to play the lead!
