Nicolas Cage has joined the cast of an upcoming action-revenge thriller called Tokarev. The film is being put out by Hannibal Classics, and will be directed by Paco Cabezas. It's said that Cage was involved in the search for the movie's director.
Hannibal Classics is handling worldwide sales via Berlin, and they are hoping to start production on the movie in May in Spokane, Washington. Classics' Richard Rionda Del Castro will produce, and the executive producing duties will be split among Nicolase Cage, Patricia Eberle, Richard Salvatore, Mike Nilon, Hayley Magouirk, Jim Agnew, Sean Keller, Cam Cannon, David Milner and Martin Barab.
The story was written by Jim Agnew and Sean Keller, and is focused on a former criminal who is searching for his daughter's kidnappers. Rionda Del Castro says the film is a great pick for Cage to be involved with, as it features "strong characters who are put through the ringer."
As for choosing the director, Rionda Del Castro said, "We worked very closely to find a director who would be a great storyteller and bring a unique vision to the film. It was a lengthy process, and in the end, we believe we've found in Cabezas an extremely talented artist who will craft an excellent film.”
Andrzej Sekula has signed on as director of photography, and Laurent Eqyuem will be the movie's music composer.
Cabezas is an up-and-coming Spanish filmmaker, so it'll be interesting to see how he interprets the screenplay and transforms it for the big screen.
