CSI: Crime Scene Investigation star Marg Helgenberger received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today. The honor comes two days before the actress’s final CSI episode on January 25th. Helgenberger, who is leaving the CBS show to pursue new opportunities, was nominated for two Emmys and two Golden Globes for her role as Catherine Willows.
"I am incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunities I've had," Helgenberger said at the star’s unveiling ceremony this afternoon. "To my mother and my brother Kurt and everyone, my family from Nebraska, standing here among all the famous stars on this sidewalk, I am completely humbled."
Helgenberger’s plaque, located at 6667 Hollywood Boulevard, is the 2,458th star to appear on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The actress’s star is two plaques away from the star of CSI colleague William Petersen. Petersen received the honor in 2009.
Though she is leaving CSI, the role that helped make her a household name, Helgenberger says she isn’t opposed to returning as a guest star.
"Oh, absolutely, in fact that was one of the reasons why it was a little easier for me to leave the show because the producers said to me practically every day the door is wide open. ...If I'm available and I'm up for it you betcha. You haven't seen the last of me."
Congratulations Marg!
