StarCam's Aiden Simko was on the red carpet for the First Annual UCLA IoES Event, where he spoke with producer Lawrence Bender, who sits on the UCLA IoES board.
"This is like our coming out day, it's really, really cool. We're excited," said Bender, "Having made An Inconvenient Truth, the global warming issue, the environment, is such a big issue for me personally and for us and the planet. What better can we do than to have a school for the environment right here in our backyard at UCLA?"
Bender went on to talk about how he came to be so passionate about this cause, saying, "Really what sparked my interest was seeing Al Gore do his slideshow, and having this crazy idea to make a movie out of it. Spending a year with Al Gore was really a big deal for me personally. He's such a great man."
When asked what one thing he thinks people should do every day to help save the environment, he replied, "I think the biggest green thing is to make Congress and the Senate pass some green legislation, I think that is the biggest thing we need to do to change the planet right now."
