TGIF and thank God for these four new films opening in theatres this evening. We’ve got a dangerous renegade, Star Wars in 3D, a heartbreaking love story, and a beautiful island with a whole lot of mysteries. Here we go…

Journey 2: Mysterious Island

A sequel to the 2008 film Journey to the Center of the Earth, Journey 2: Mysterious Island is a 3D action movie about an island that is, well, mysterious. Dwayne Johnson, Michael Caine, Josh Hutcherson, Vanessa Hudgens, Luis Guzmán, and Kristin Davis star in the movie Roger Ebert calls “jolly and good natured.”

Safe House

Starring Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds, Safe House is the tale of two men, one a rookie CIA agent and the other a renegade, who must battle their way across South Africa after a group of rebel soldiers destroy their safe house.

Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace 3D

Originally released in 1999, The Phantom Menace is back in theatres, this time in 3D. The prequel stars Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, and many others. Phantom Menace is the first of the Star Wars' series six films to be re-released in 3D.

The Vow

A romantic drama, The Vow is the story of a young woman (Rachel McAdams) who develops amnesia after a devastating car crash and forgets her husband (Channing Tatum). Sam Neill, Scott Speedman, and Jessica Lange also star in the film based on a real-life couple.

Planning to head to the movies this weekend? Whatever you do, stay away from those pesky teens!
