Josh Kalis had a tough time even remembering how he met Danny Way when he was talking with StarCam’s Jennifer Tapiero at the premiere of Waiting for Lightning. The two successful skateboarders have known each other for close to two decades and it took a bit of help from Danny to think of a time when they weren’t buds!
It was at the World Plan B Summer Tour in 1993 in Texas. The two of them were in a hotel room after a long day and Josh wasn’t even part of the team yet. He was still trying his hardest to be taken seriously. That was the moment they met and they’ve been the best of friends since. Josh sincerely admires Danny for his talent and what a genuine and humble person he is.
Josh said that there are a lot of people out there who have their Facebook friends, the ones they keep tabs on but don’t really maintain solid relationships with, and then there are people with their real friends. Josh is grateful to have his real friends and to be able to call Danny Way one of them!
