Jenna Fischer, who stars in The Office as Pam Beasly, has announced that she and her husband Lee Kirk are expecting their second child, a baby boy. And, bonus! Her real-life pregnancy has been written into the upcoming season of the hit NBC show.
“Pam will be pregnant when the season starts,” Fischer says. “Pam and Jim snuck away last season on Valentine’s Day, and they had sex. The story is that they conceived this baby at that time and were keeping it a secret until we come back from the summer.”
Not only is the baby the second child for Fischer herself, but it is the second baby for Pam and Jim! A couple seasons ago, the TV-married-couple welcomed a baby girl.
The upcoming season’s plot development conveniently overlaps with Fischer’s real-life pregnancy. Fischer announced the pregnancy in May, and said at the time, “When we started shooting that [Valentine’s Day] episode, I thought to myself, ‘If everything goes well, this is going to be a very, very convenient coincidence.’ And I think I found out I was pregnant when we were shooting that episode.”
As for more Office details, Fischer says that a Michael Scott (Steve Carrell) replacement has finally been chosen, but she’s not allowed to say who. Guess we’ll all have to tune into the new season!
