
The last few weeks have been slow when it comes to new DVD releases, but things picked up today with the release of an exciting car chase film, a dystopian thriller, an alien fright fest, and a psychological horror flick. Here are the new DVD releases for Tuesday, January 31st.
Drive
Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan, Bryan Cranston, and Albert Brooks star in this action flick about a Hollywood stunt performer who moonlights as a getaway driver. Drive received overwhelming good reviews with noted critic Roger Ebert describing it as movie with respect for writing, acting, and knowledgeable moviegoers.
In Time
A dystopian thriller set in 2161, In Time stars Justin Timberlake, Olivia Wilde, Amanda Seyfried, Cillian Murphy, and Matt Bomer, among others. Today’s DVD release coincides with Timberlake’s 31st birthday. Happy birthday J.T.!
The Thing
A prequel to a 1982 film by the same name, The Thing is the tale of a group of scientists who discover an alien buried deep in the ice of Antarctica. The movie, based on the John W. Campbell novel Who Goes There?, stars stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Joel Edgerton, Ulrich Thomsen, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, and Eric Christian Olsen.
Dream House
Dream House, starring Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz, Naomi Watts, and Marton Csokas, is about a mental patient who has blocked out the murder of his wife and children and returns to the home where the happy family lived. The film opened to poor reviews and has yet to turn a profit. Director Jim Sheridan clashed with studio Morgan Creek Productions and tried to remove his name from the credits.
