You may know her best as How I Met Your Mother's Robin Scherbatsky, but Cobie Smulders is heading towards the big screen again. The Avengers actress is reportedly in negotiations to join the cast of Dreamworks' Starbuck, an English-language remake of the French-Canadian comedy.
The film centers on a man, played by Vince Vaughn, whose life is turned upside down when he learns that thanks to donating sperm, he has fathered 533 children. Yikes! When a few hundred of those kids decide they want to meet their father and won't take no for an answer, Vaughn's character has to decide whether to step up and reveal who he is or remain in the shadows (we think you can guess which option he chooses; with the first choice, we get a movie, but with the latter, we don't).
Smulders will play Vaughn's girlfriend, who is (shocking!) pregnant and has heard of "The Starbuck Story" (Vaughn's character's lore), but has no idea that her boyfriend is the man behind the myth.
Ken Scott, who wrote and directed the original, is writing the script for the English version and will also direct the new version. Chris Pratt is also among the movie's cast.
It'll be interesting to see what happens for the cast of HIMYM with rumors that Jason Segel is leaving as well as Smulders' increasing interest in movie roles. Maybe, just maybe, we'll learn who Ted's wife/the "mother" is sooner rather than later, since the cast of the show is clearly ready to move on.
