"Rumor Has It" that Adele is expecting a baby...except it's not much of a rumor when the suspected makes an announcement confirming the news. That's right—Adele is expecting her first child with her boyfriend, Simon Konecki.
The Grammy-winning singer, 24, announced the news on her website today, writing, "I'm delighted to announce that Simon and I are expecting our first child together. I wanted you to hear the news direct from me, obviously we're over the moon and very excited but please respect our privacy at this precious time."
One thing we have never understood, though, is the pleas for privacy while announcing that something crazy is going on. Paparazzi are not known for their discretion.
The "Someone Like You" singer was spotted in February wearing a diamond ring that was said to be an engagement ring, but three months later, in May, she denied that rumors that she was getting married.
The couple met last summer and have been dating ever since, and Adele first addressed the relationship in a blog post on her website this January, writing, "Everyone in our lives separately and together wish us nothing but the best, and vice versa."
Konecki has a five-year-old daughter from a previous marriage, and a source says that Adele has "met and absolutely adores" the girl.
"It's a huge turnaround for Adele who's always said she wants to wait until she's at least 30 and has five albums before she thinks about a family. But now they have their big pad in the country with ample bedrooms, she's keen to fill it with babies," the source added.
Congrats to the couple and here's hoping for albums that aren't as broody and sad.
