The Amazing Spider-Man is the new box office champion. The reboot starring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone pulled in $65 million its first week in theaters, thanks in part to the film’s stunning 3-D visuals.

"I did think more people would see it in 3-D, because it's such an incredible visual treat," Rory Bruer, Sony's president of distribution, told the Los Angeles Times.

Directed by the appropriately named Marc Webb, The Amazing Spider-Man also stars Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, and Sally Fields.

Last week’s leader, Ted, dropped to number two with additional earnings of $32.5 million. The film about a foul-mouthed teddy bear has so far earned $120 million worldwide. Third place goes to Brave with earnings of $20.1 million.

New release Savages came in fourth with a box office take of $16 million. The action film directed by Oliver Stone stars Taylor Kitsch, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Blake Lively, Salma Hayek, Benicio del Toro, and John Travolta, among others.

Male stripper flick Magic Mike rounds out the list of top five box office earners with a weekend take of $15 million. The film stars Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer, Matthew McConaughey, Cody Horn, Olivia Munn, Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash, and Matt Bomer.

Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Witness Protection Program and Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted came in sixth and seventh with respective earnings of $10.2 and $7.7 million. Katy Perry’s Part of Me debuted at number eight with a box officer take of $7.1 million. The documentary concert film features cameos from many performers, including Adele, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, and Justin Bieber.

Last, but not least, is Moonrise Kingdom and To Rome with Love which close out the list of top ten box office performers with respective earnings of $4.6 and $3.5 million.
