Snow White and the Huntsman just completed its first full week in theaters, but Universal is already hard at work to ensure the film gets a sequel. In fact, the movie starring Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth could even get two sequels. Could K-Stew have stumbled into another fantasy franchise?
Deadline reports that Universal has asked screenwriter David Koepp to pen a script for the sequel, and is in talks with Huntsman director Rupert Sanders about returning for the second film. Stewart and Hemsworth have options for two sequels, and Kristen has said she wants to see another Snow White film.
"I would do it in a heartbeat," the actress told E! Online. "I know with the people involved it would only be done because it's very worthwhile and it's a good movie. We wouldn't just be cashing in."
Given the ending of Snow White and the Huntsman, it seems very unlikely that Charlize Theron, who plays the beautiful wicked witch, would return for a sequel. However, with magic-based fantasy films you never know.
Opening in theaters June 1, Snow White and the Huntsman exceeded industry projections with a $56 million debut. The film has so far earned $182 million worldwide.
