Sean "P Diddy" Combs is known for many things, like his clothing line, vodka, numerous TV shows over the years and ultimately as a music mogul. Magic Johnson is known as an NBA great who has gone on to be a successful business man, an advocate for AIDS awareness and many other charitable causes. Both Combs and Johnson can now add something new and fresh to their lists. They will each be running their own Comcast channels!
When Comcast became the majority owner of NBCUniversal, part of the agreement with the FCC and Department of Justice involved rolling out several new channels over the next few years, two of which will be majority black owned and two will be majority American-Hispanic owned. All the stations will air in English.
Combs's channel will be called "Revolt," and will be focused on music. The concept behind it was conceived by Combs and MTV. Viewers can anticipate a mix of music videos, live performances, music news and interviews. The big launch will take place in 2013. Magic Johnson will be launching "Aspire" in partnership with family-oriented channel GMC TV. "Aspire" will be dedicated to positive and enlightening programming with a focus on black families, and it is set to take off this summer!
"Aspire will be a network that encourages and challenges African-Americans to reach for their dreams," said Johnson, adding that it "will celebrate our heritage, our groundbreaking achievements and the fearless talent that has shaped American culture."
Be on the lookout for two of television's newest, hippest and most insightful stations!
