If Oprah can land her dream interview with O.J Simpson it would certainly be a feather in the cap of her fledgling cable network.
She told the National Cable and Telecommunications Association conference, “I have a dream of O.J. confessing to me. I want the interview on the condition that you are ready, Mr. Simpson. And I am going to make that happen, people.”
She also spoke candidly about the rocky launch of OWN, saying that she may have handled the start differently. She conceded that she wasn’t able to commit fully to the project. “ I was all in with one foot out the door,” she said, referring to her final season of The Oprah Show .
Now that the show has wrapped up its 25th and final season the media mogul says she is ready to commit. “It’s everything I have. Myself, my heart, and the soul and spirit of me, my company-dedicated to the vision of OWN. I wouldn’t bet against me,” she said.
OWN which took over Discovery Health on January 1 has struggled to match previous rating of its predecessor. It was down 24 percent in adult viewership compared with Discovery Health’s May 2010 ratings.
I wouldn’t bet against Oprah either. Now that she can give the cable network her full attention it is sure to gain in the ratings.
