One would not expect Nikki Blonsky to take a summer job, but that’s just what the actress did. Blonsky, who received a Golden Globe nomination for her role as Tracy Turnblad in the 2007 big screen production of the Broadway hit Hairspray, has decided to spend her summer selling shoes.
She took a job at the Steven Dann boutique in her hometown of Great Neck, N.Y. for something fun to do. Customers not only get help with shoes but are also entertained by the talented actress.
Sources say, “She’s really sweet to the little kids that come in the store. She even sings and dances for the customers, busting out the tunes from Hairspray.”
Her career is currently at a standstill. The ABC Family series, Huge, that she starred in, was dropped by the network and her romantic comedy Waiting for Forever earned less than stellar reviews.
The boutique owner Steven Dann predicts that her drought won’t last long and she will be out of retail shortly. He hints that she has a huge project lined up for the fall.
Her rep said, “She decided to try the gig for the fun of it. And to support a longtime friend’s local business.”
