As if a Twilight remake wasn’t enough, word on the street is that Lionsgate may also redo Saw. A source told Blood Disgusting the studio is “tinkering with the idea of rebooting the Saw franchise, although an eighth film isn’t out of the cards.” Dear God, why?

The seventh, and supposedly final film, in the Saw franchise, Saw 3D, hit theaters October 29, 2010, though series creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell have said they’re open to another film if they can do something different with the material. Perhaps “different” means remake the same movies? The films earned a whopping $873 million worldwide, so it’s likely Lionsgate isn’t ready to let the franchise go.

Here’s my brilliant proposal: remake the Saw films, but cast Twilight’s Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson as the leads. RPatz is pretty pissed at KStew these days, thanks to her affair with Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders, so he probably wouldn’t mind her bloody demise, even if it is only onscreen.

What do you think of the Saw reboot idea? Do you want to play (yet another) game?
