Dirty Dancing remake

Johnny and Baby will burn up the dance floor again as Lionsgate just announced plans to remake the 1987 classic film Dirty Dancing. Choreographer Kenny Ortega was asked to direct this time around.

"The opportunity to direct Dirty Dancing is like returning home for me," said Ortega. "Growing up in the '60s on the dance floor helped define me as a person and as an artist."

Ortega's most recent accomplishments include directing and choreographing the High School Musical trilogy, as well as directing Michael Jackson's This Is It.

Many fans are angered by the announcement of this remake, saying no one could or should take the place of Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey.

However, others are offering up suggestions for casting, such as Heather Rittle who commented, "You should make Jennifer Grey the mom and get someone like Hayden Panetierre to be Baby, she has done a lot of cheerleading movies and dancing movies so she would be good."

As for Johnny, The Hollywood Crush Team at MTV wrote an open letter to Kenny Ortega, begging him to cast Ryan Gosling.

Iconic songs from the original film will be included in the remake, such as "(I've Had) The Time of My Life," "Hungry Eyes" and "She's Like the Wind," as well as other 1960s hits and new tracks.
