Last night, MTV revealed their list of nominees for the August 28th Video Music Awards show. Leading the musical menagerie is Katy Perry with nine nominations, including Best Pop Video, Best Collaboration, Best Direction, Best Special Effects and Video of the Year, all for her smash hit "Firework".

British song-belter Adele follows close behind with seven bids for "Rolling in the Deep", while Kanye West also won seven nods for "All of the Lights" and "Power".

Bruno Mars is next on the list with four nominations for "Grenade", and then Beyonce, Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj each received three. 

Beyonce's "Run the World (Girls)" got noticed for Best Female Video, Best Choreography and Best Cinematography. Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" will also battle for Best Female Video, while the controversial "Judas" competes for Best Art Direction and Best Choreography. Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass" is also in the running for Best Female Video, in addition to Best Hip-Hop Video.

Eminem wasn't left out of the mix as his "Love the Way You Lie" received three VMA nominations. Plus, Beastie Boys, Chris Brown, 30 Seconds to Mars and Pitbull were praised with two bids each.

Brand new nominees include Tyler, The Creator, Foster the People, Manchester Orchestra, Wiz Khalifa, Big Sean and Mumford & Sons.
