Judge Dredd

In 1995, when Sylvester Stallone took to the screen as Judge Dredd, comic book aficionados howled in fury while the rest of the world merely shrugged. The film's half parody/half serious venture left the story a jumbled mess. To this day, it's among the bottom fifth of movies rated on Rotten Tomatoes, with an unenviable 15% fresh rating.

A team of British filmmakers with credits like 28 Days Later and Sunshine are out to make a new, serious adaptation the comic book, and so far it looks pretty promising. Lena Headley, whose scheming work on Game of Thrones has made her one of the most hated characters on television brings her villainy to the silver screen as drug kingpin Mama Madrigal. Hunky New Zealand native brings the gravitas as Dredd. The film promises lots of stunning dystopian cityscapes, thorny ethical issues, and many things going boom.
