One of the most anticipated superhero movies of the summer is Warner Brothers/DC Comic's Green Lantern. Following a positive reception by fanboys at WonderCon, Warner Brothers decided to increase the visual effects budget by $9 million (original budget was $45 million) to make sure that the movie looks as good as it can. As with most fx-laden tentpoles these days, tight deadlines and colossal demands make for a high-stress, mad dash to the release date.
A test pilot (Reynolds) is granted a mystical green ring that bestows him with otherworldly powers, as well as membership into an intergalactic squadron tasked with keeping peace within the universe.
Directed by Martin Campbell, Green Lantern stars Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard and Mark Strong. Green Lantern hits theaters on June 17 in 3D.
