Thinking of catching a movie this weekend? Here are three new films to check out. We’ve got ghosts, angsty teens with supernatural powers, and adorable whales in need of assistance.

Big Miracle

Drew Barrymore and The Office’s John Krasinski star in this romantic film about an aid worker and a government worker who attempt to rescue a group of whales trapped under walls of ice. Big Miracle is based on the 1989 book Freeing the Whales: How the Media Created the World's Greatest Non-Event by Tom Rose.

Chronicle

Chronicle, a science fiction film starring Dane DeHaan, Michael B. Jordan, and Alex Russell, is the story of three teens who gain superpowers. Things are fine and dandy at first, until one of the boys begins using his powers to harm and kill. The Los Angeles Times likened Chronicle to Paranormal Activity, but with superpowers.

The Woman in Black

The Woman in Black is the tale of a young lawyer (Daniel Radcliffe) who travels to a lonely, marsh estate only to encounter the vengeful spirit. Ciarán Hinds, Janet McTeer, and Liz White also star in film. The Woman in Black is based on a 1983 Susan Hill novel by the same name and has also been adapted for the stage.

I’m a huge ghost nerd, so I’ll be watching The Woman in Black tonight. However, Chronicle also looks interesting. Will you be headed to the theatres this weekend?
