Actor Ed O’Neill was honored Tuesday night (August 30) with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The 65-year-old actor, who currently stars in ABC’s Modern Family, was joined by his TV wives, Katey Sagal of Married with Children and Sofia Vergara of Modern Family, as well as his real wife and children.
"Just think, somewhere in this world a baby girl is being born and she is going to be my next wife,” O’Neill joked.
Katey is 11 years younger than Ed, while Sofia is 26 years his junior.
O’Neill’s star, located in front of a DSW shoe store on Hollywood Boulevard, is the 2,446th plaque to appear on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The actor admits he wasn’t particularly thrilled when he learned his name was up for consideration.
“One day my manager called and said, ‘They want to give you a star,’ and I said, ‘Why?’” Ed told the Youngstown News. “I almost turned it down. I never liked the idea of it. It's bizarre - names on a sidewalk. People can spit on it.”
O’Neill, who once taught social studies, earned an Emmy nomination for his role in Modern Family. The actor has also starred or appeared in Wayne’s World, Dragnet, The West Wing, and John From Cincinnati.
