Based on a true story, The Devil Inside (opening tomorrow) follows one woman’s quest to learn the truth about her mother’s possession and exorcism. Actress Fernanda Andrade stars in the creepy new flick, a role that caused her to question the existence of demons and the supernatural.

“I think it's undeniable that every religion that exists has some sort of exorcism in it…” the Brazilian-born actress told the Huffington Post. “I don't know that I have an answer, but I really feel like it's whatever you think it is; it's kind of a testament to the human psyche, really.”

Andrade is far from the first actress to question the existence of demons and supernatural beings. As possession films have become increasingly popular, both the general public and the stars of such flicks can’t help but wonder if sinister beings intent on possessing human souls truly exist. Here’s what the stars of possession films have to say on the subject.

"I don’t know what the hell to believe. I think there’s something at the back of everything. If someone believes in God, who am I to argue with that? Who am I to question the faith of people like Einstein, Kepler, Charles Darwin, who were themselves great scientists and yet believed in a deity?”- Anthony Hopkins (Father Lukas, The Rite, 2010).

“There's always that, ‘Could that be real? Is that real?’ The fact that exorcisms and exorcists still happen today more than ever in every single religion - you start wondering.” – Ashley Bell (Nell Sweetzer, The Last Exorcism, 2010).

“Sure. I think there are a lot of things you can't explain in the world and I'm certainly open to that kind of stuff.” – Katie Featherston (Katie, Paranormal Activity, 2009).

“Things have definitely changed for me as far as what I'm able to experience. I used to love playing with a Ouija board, and now I don't even want one in my house.” – Micah Sloat (Micah, Paranormal Activity, 2009)

“I believe in possibility, but I'm not sure I believe in demons.” – Jennifer Carpenter (Emily Rose, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, 2005).
