Danny DeVito will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today, becoming the 2,445th celebrity to earn the honor.

John Landgraf, president and general manager of FX Networks, will join DeVito at the 11:30 a.m. award ceremony which will also honor the upcoming DVD release of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Season Six. DeVito stars in the FX comedy about a group of self-centered friends who run an Irish bar in South Philadelphia.

Born and raised in New Jersey, DeVito attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York where he decided to pursue a professional acting career. After years of unemployment in both Hollywood and New York, DeVito scored a starring role in three one-act plays, thanks to the help of an Academy professor. The diminutive actor then went on to appear in a series of off-Broadway productions, eventually landing his first major role – Louie De Palma on the hit series Taxi. DeVito received four Emmy nominations for his role on Taxi, finally winning the award in 1981, in addition to earning a Golden Globe.

DeVito has since appeared in a variety of films including Batman Returns, Romancing the Stone, Twins, Tin Men, Hoffa, and Matilda. Danny has also worked as a director and a producer and is responsible for such flicks as Death to Smoochy, Erin Brokovich, Pulp Fiction, Man on the Moon, and many others. The actor is married to actress Rhea Perlman and the couple has three children.
