Connie Britton recently gained recognition for her role as Vivien Harmon in American Horror Story, but how could any of us forget her stretch as the Coach Eric Taylor’s wife Tami? The good news is that we not only get to see her back for Season 2 of the creepy new TV series created by Ryan Murphy, but we also get to take a trip back to Dillon, Texas with the Friday Night Lights movie! Yes, it’s official! Connie just made the announcement that it’s happening and she’s on-board!
There’s no doubt tons of people have been hoping and eagerly awaiting this announcement, but there’s still the question of what will the storyline be? Where will it pick up? We don’t know a whole lot yet, but there is some chatter that it may have something to do with the former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach who was fired for allegedly locking a kid in a closet. Co-creator/executive producer of Friday Night Lights Peter Berg didn’t give a direct answer, but definitely stressed how strongly he felt about the subject matter in a recent interview with Details.
“I put Leach in a little cameo in Friday Night Lights and I started to become friends with him, and then he got fired,” said Berg. “I really studied that entire situation—his getting fired and the accusations made against him by Adam James, and the pressure that his father, Craig James, put on Leach, using his ESPN bully pulpit. Craig James is a f*%$@#g scumbag, helicopter dad—and everything wrong with the culture I observed in Texas. Mike Leach never put that kid in a closet. The kid admitted it. It was a total lie. Now Mike Leach has the Washington State University job and he's got carte blanche. It's a great comeback story.”
We’ll leave it up to you to decide whether or not Berg feels passionately enough about the incident to work it into the movie. Let us know what you think about the movie officially happening and check out some StarCam exclusive interviews with the cast of the show below!
