Chelsea Handler’s contract with E! is up for renewal and some are wondering if the popular comedian will stay or go.
"We'll see how it goes," Handler told The Hollywood Reporter. "And if it works out for me to stick around here ... It may turn out that I'm done altogether. I can't keep doing the same thing, my brain is bleeding."
According to PopEater, Handler earns about $3.5 million a year hosting E!’s Chelsea Lately but that figure may not be enough to keep the star at the network. The negotiation process, Handler says, is long and humbling, not to mention frustrating.
"It's a lengthy process," Chelsea said. "They tell you're valuable, and then you get a counter offer and you think, 'I guess you really don't care about me at all.' Nothing is set in stone, so if things go south, then obviously I will be moving along."
Handler will be plenty busy even if she does lose her late night talk show. The comedian is working on a new sitcom, Are You There Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea, in addition to books for her new imprint at Grand Central Publishing. Roseanne Barr and Laura Prepon are set to star in the NBC sitcom based on Handler’s best-selling book by the same name.
Would you be sad to see Chelsea leave the E! network?
