It must run in the family, off beat weddings. Who can forget Kimberly Williams-Paisley’s wedding to Brad Paisley?  They shocked their family and friends by turning the rehearsal into their actual wedding.

This past weekend Kimberly’s sister, Ashley, tied the knot at the Paisley farm in Nashville. Nothing was traditional about it either.  She married her longtime boyfriend Neal Dodson in a no frills outdoor ceremony.

“We wanted an intimate farm-inspired wedding.” Williams told People. As Ashley explained, “We basically planned an upscale keg party.”

The couple opted to exchange vows they wrote rather than go the traditional route.  They also exchanged wedding bands purchased from Overstock.com.

Guests were treated to pairs of flip-flops “so they could relax and have fun” at the reception that was held in the sand pit where Paisley trains his horses.

There were about 50 guests who danced the night away listening to a local country band, enjoying Anheuser-Busch beer, wine and a drink called The Smashed, a whiskey based libation referencing Williams’ nickname, Smash.

The menu was simple as well. Guests enjoyed pulled pork, biscuits and macaroni ‘n cheese. Instead of wedding cake banana pudding was served for dessert.

Williams says she has married her best friend. “He grounds me. He allows me to laugh at myself and calms me down. He puts things in perspective,” the bride said.
