In 2010, five music fans came together with one common goal – to showcase the immense talent of the Tampa Bay area. The result was the Antiwarpt Music Festival, and this fan-fueled production quickly became one of the most popular festivals in the region.
What started as a modest event with 21 bands has blossomed into a major festival featuring groups from around the country, though the focus still remains on local acts. Slated for July 28, Antiwarpt 2012 will feature 99 bands at a variety of venues in downtown St. Petersburg. Featured acts include The Mountain Goats, Two Cow Garage, Adrian Younge, Sunbears!, Tallhart, and Have Gun, Will Travel. See the full list here.
Tickets for Antiwarpt are $25 in advance and $30 the day of show. The festival has earned several awards throughout the years, including “Best New Festival,” “Critics Best Festival,” and “Readers Best Festival” from Creative Loafing. Another local paper, TBT, also speaks highly of Antiwarpt.
"Trust us, after looking at this bill, you will never find a better collection of local talent."
