Today, funnyman Adam Sandler became the latest celebrity to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Wedding Singer, Happy Gilmore, and Punch-Drunk Love actor was the 2,431st celebrity to receive the honor.
“I feel honored and can't believe this has happened in my life,” Sandler said at the ceremony.
Henry Winkler, Sandler’s longtime friend and Waterboy co-star, presented Adam with the plague while actor Kevin James looked on. Sandler’s wife, Jackie, and daughters Sadie, 4, and Sunny, 2, also proudly watched by the podium. At one point, Sadie grabbed the mike and announced “I love my daddy,” much to the delight of the large crowd gathered for the ceremony. Sandler, however, didn’t mind.
"It was excellent that they were here," the former SNL star said about his family. "It was the reason that it was extra special. If I was here without them, I would feel that I was just missing those guys. So it was a great day for me."
Sandler, who rose to fame on Saturday Night Live, is perhaps best known for roles in Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, Big Daddy, and Mr. Deeds. Fans can next see Sandler in Just Go With It, a romantic comedy hitting theaters next Friday (February 11). Jennifer Aniston, Nicole Kidman, and Brooklyn Decker, also star in the upcoming film.
