AWOLNATION

The American Association of Independent Music (A2IM) celebrates Indie Week this June with conference panels, presentations, and the first-ever Libera Awards. The intimate, invite-only awards ceremony at New York’s Le Poisson Rouge on June 21st is the first award show for independent artists and labels, nominated and voted on by independent artists and labels.

"This is our chance to celebrate the risk-takers of the music industry — the independent labels — and the amazing people we all work with every day, from music supervisors to designers," said Kill Rock Stars President and A2IM Board Member Portia Sabin. "We want to honor the people who do great work with independent artists, as well as our artists themselves. This is an exciting time for the independent community and we look forward to marking it with the A2IM Libera Awards ceremony."

The inaugural nominees indicate the diversity of the independent label community in terms of label sizes, geographic locations, and genres of music they release, as well as the critical and commercial success of independent labels investing in the creation of music by the artists they love.

AWOLNATION, Battles, and Taylor Swift are in the running for Road Warrior of the Year, while Bon Iver, Paul Simon, and The Civil Wars are after Album of the Year.
