lisa d'amato wins america's next top model

Wednesday night marked a first for America’s Next Top Model for more reasons than one. Not only was this season the first All Star Season, meaning hot shots from previous cycles came back to duke it out for a huge prize package, but there was a disqualification in the finale.

We filled you in on the final three girls in the running earlier this week, so we all knew going into the big elimination that things were going to get serious. The previews said that Lisa D’Amato, Allison Harvard or Angelea Preston would be booted for a reason that had nothing to do with her modeling abilities.

All three contenders did a photo shoot for CoverGirl and a commercial for Shadow Blast (a CoverGirl product). This is all familiar territory for the girls, but it still came with challenges. Lisa sounded like a salesman instead of a relatable model. Allison’s eyes proved to be uncooperative, running like crazy in the sunlight. Probably not the best look for a CoverGirl ad. And Angelea, the queen of personality, came to the table with too much. No real surprise there.

After they rapped things up with the cosmetic company it was time to shoot for Vogue Italia. The shoot was on yet another breath-taking beach in Crete. This shoot was essential for everyone. The winner’s will be published in the magazine!

Now it’s runway time. This season’s final runway show was different from previous cycles in a lot of ways. The girls met with a major designer a few weeks back to design their own dress. To top it all off, the lovely ladies had to swim underwater and rise up to signify the shift from model to goddess. After their interesting laps, the girls were strapped into harnesses and flew down onto the runway in those custom dresses, strutting the catwalk in the songs they composed earlier this season.

Everyone made their way back to Los Angeles for the final deliberation after the show. This is when the handsome Nigel Barker shares the bad news; Angelea is disqualified. There wasn’t any reason provided. All that they said was that the shows executives discovered something that killed her chances at the big win.

There is a lot of speculation going on regarding Angelea’s cut. The CW released a statement saying that whatever sparked the disqualification happened AFTER the show rapped. They actually had to re-shoot parts of the finale to address the disentitlement. The network’s statement made it sound like Angelea may have been the original winner. There has been some chatter alluding that Miss Personality shared her victory with the Facebook universe before the finale aired. This is a major no-no!

Regardless of whom the original winner was or was not, Lisa D’Amato claimed her victory on last night’s finale. The energetic, singer/songwriter/model will finally have the chance to shine that she’s been hoping for!
