Scott Porter, known for his previous role as Jason Street on Friday Night Lights and current role on Hart of Dixie, came out to A Night at Sardi’s with tons of enthusiasm for a great cause! He also clued StarCam’s Jennifer Tapiero in on an interesting tidbit about why Hart of Dixie has been so great to film!

“The Alzheimer’s Association puts on just amazing events all year round and this is one of the crowning achievements of it,” said Scott. “It’s so nice to come out and see a bunch of actors who you don’t know can control a stage just get up there and perform, but knowing that behind that is such a strong campaign to end Alzheimer’s, which is something that affects over 6 million Americans. The younger generation thinks is just an older person’s disease, but it’s not. It affects everyone and it takes people’s lives in two ways. It takes their memories and then takes their lives really. It’s actually a fatal disease. Knowing that the Alzheimer’s Association has started a new campaign saying, ‘End Alzheimer’s,’ that’s a strong statement. I’m glad to be here and I couldn’t be more proud to support it.”

Scott’s big heart and passion to help others could be credited to his life motto. He lives each day with a ‘say yes’ attitude. He told Jen that this is a great way for people to try new things and get the most out of life, saying “I mean that’s how I’ve done it in my life. I’m a faith-based decision maker and when opportunities come along instead of saying no out of fear or because you don’t think it’s right for you, say yes and just see where it takes you. Life’s all about the stories.”

One opportunity that Scott said yes to ended up being especially wonderful for him. He currently plays George Tucker on the CW show Hart of Dixie, which to his luck is being filmed in the area he lives in. Not only does he get to work with great people on a great show, but he also gets to sleep in his own bed and cook in his own kitchen every night!
