NFL star Rob Gronkowski’s attempt to gain more followers on Twitter ended with a sincere apology yesterday.
Gronkowski is a tight end on the New England Patriots who, up until his adventures in Arizona on bye week, had the reputation of being a really nice guy. Striking shirtless poses with an adult film star who was wearing his jersey might have hurt that image though.
Last week, the pro athlete met porn star BiBi Jones through mutual friends. She had nearly twice as many Twitter followers as he did, so they took a few pictures and Jones posted them on her account to boost his numbers. Jones said nothing else happened between them, but that she had slept with several professional athletes.
"Nothing happened. I wish something had, but nothing happened," Jones said. "I asked if I could have some pictures with him and he said, 'Yeah, wait, put on my jersey.' I said, 'OK.' We were taking pictures. I asked him if I could put it on Twitter because some athletes wouldn't want that since I do adult films, and they don't want to be associated with that. He was really cool with it because I have more Twitter followers than him."
Last year, Gronkowski signed a $4.4 million deal with the Patriots, so they definitely weren’t happy to see the pictures of their jersey on Jones. He met with the team’s owner and apologized.
"I didn't intend anything to hurt the reputation of anyone on the New England Patriots or on behalf of Robert Kraft," said Gronkowski."It was just a simple picture, and that's all."
