Grammy winning singer Lady Gaga has seemingly done it all – but soon, she’ll be immortalized via cartoon character as she guest stars on The Simpsons. Yeardley Smith, who voices Lisa Simpson is returning to Los Angeles on August 22 (her day off from her other job, working on an off-Broadway play called Love, Loss, and What I Wore) to record the episode with Gaga.
Smith said, “This is extraordinary! I’m stunned that she has time in her schedule that she’s coming to our studio to record.” The Simpsons star said that Gaga would be playing herself, and that writers describe her as “the happiest, most optimistic person in the world. She comes to Springfield to try to cheer up Lisa, but she can’t.”
The appearance will air during the show’s 23rd season. In a previous episode, a cartoon version of Gaga (not voiced by Lady Gaga) appeared on the show as Elton John’s date to the Golden Globes.
Gaga and Smith should have plenty to talk about, given Gaga’s love of Broadway and Smith’s current fashion-centric role and plans to launch a shoe line. Smith proclaimed, “I can’t wait to see what she wears!”
