Blake Lively is the new face of Chanel’s Mademoiselle handbag line according to Woman’s Wear Daily.

"She's a kind of American dream girl," says designer Karl Lagerfeld of the French design house's newest face.

The blonde beauty spent most of last July in Paris mingling with the fashion elite and attending couture shows.  While she was there she had the good fortune to be photographed by Lagerfeld himself at Chanel’s Rue Cambon headquarters for the campaign.

It was a humbling experience to be photographed at the historic apartment where Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel at one time showed her collections.
"A dream come true is an understatement. I can say that I feel like the happiest, luckiest girl around."

Lively follows in the footsteps of an elite club of actresses and models that have represented the iconic fashion house previously. Stars such as Diane Kruger, Lily Allen, and Vanessa Paradis have all graced print ads for the house of Chanel.

"Though I am the face of [the handbag], I will carry it like every girl," Lively said. "I will always feel it's more than just a purse. It's a quilted case full of lipstick, love letters and the dreams and possibilities that I have always felt every time I see that beautiful 'CC.'"

The ad campaign will hit fashion magazines this April.
